Tohoka Matsuda
I rediscovered "Apsaras" when I traveled to Angkor Wat in Cambodia last year. Apsaras is a female spirit in Hindu and Buddhist culture. The repeatedly depicted, mass-produced images of this supernatural creature have greatly fascinated me since then. With my woodcut, I placed this favorite character dancing amid chaotic conditions as projecting the current era of the pandemic and the rapid changes of the world. Where are we going?
