Susana B. Endo

I am obsessed with bamboo, and growing up in Caracas, where bamboo grows everywhere it is beautiful to be able to express my past and present memories in my paintings...

From the beginning, the process of transforming a plain white piece of paper into a detailed painting of a bamboo forest has struck me as magical. Over the years, that magical process has had its way with me; painting has proven a most amiable vehicle for translating my inner vision to outer reality.

I paint from the inside out. Though, I work quite deliberately, consciously employing both traditional and innovative techniques, my unconscious are the undisputed project manager. I paint from my heart, and I hardly ever sketch.

The expressive nature of my brush strokes frees my imagination and provides many opportunities to try something new that at the end will influence the finished painting.

I always wanted to capture a glimpse of the beauty of bamboo and create multiple panels that at the end any one could rearrange and create a new piece, have a different view of my forests and a create a new painting within my painting...It was always in my mind that changes are good, nature changes, and why not change the structure of the creator's painting and make it you own new painting...
